The Audiolab CDS-2500A
Professional Degausser is designed to erase all formats of
media that are less than 6 inches in width. The degaussing field strength switch provides the option to change
between high and low field strengths. It is like having two degaussers in one. On low, the CDS-2500A is a continuous
duty degausser capable of degaussing over 90 VHS tapes per minute without overheating. On high, the CDS-2500A is
a high energy degausser capable of erasing the newest metal tape formats of up to 2200 oersteds.
To start erasing, simply press the “on” button and place the media on the conveyor belt. The conveyor belt will
transport the media through the strong horizontal and vertical degaussing fields produced by two degaussing coils
placed at 90 degrees from each other (“V” coil design). For added convenience, the conveyor belt speed can be easily
adjusted up to 60 feet per minute. At this rate, the CDS-2500A will erase more than 90 VHS tapes per minute. For
more efficiency, add the optional FH-4 feed hopper.
Degaussing Coil:
For long-lasting performance, the degaussing coils are vacuum
dipped and baked. The vacuum process draws the air out of the coil allowing the potting compound to coat each winding
of the coil. The coil is then baked “rock hard” to eliminate vibrations that could eventually lead to shorts in
the windings of the coil. In addition, two thermal detection units have been wound into each coil to ensure that
the operating temperature is safely maintained. When in operation, the coils are cooled by fans which are automatically
turned on and off by the signals being sent from the thermal detection units.
MS-25 Magnetic Shield Option:
For customers requiring an enclosed degaussing station, we have designed a magnetic shield that completely encloses the conveyor belt and magnetic fields.
The MS-25 magnetic shield option reduces the magnetic field surrounding the degausser below the threshold limit
values specified by the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH).
To assist with the loading and unloading of media with the MS-25 magnetic
shield in place, we have developed an input (IS-CDS) and output (OS-CDS) slide as shown in the above photo.
FH-4 Feed Hopper Option:
 The Audiolab model FH-4 is an automatic
cassette feed hopper that attaches to the Audiolab CDS-2500A degausser. This low cost option dramatically increases
the speed and simplicity of erasing large quantities of media. While the FH-4 was originally designed for VHS cassettes,
the FH-4 can be adjusted to fit many other formats as well.
Made of stainless steel, the FH-4 is rugged, designed for continuous use, and is easily installed using existing
hardware.
